Made famous by his work on the ubiquitous Furby, toy inventor Caleb Chung has founded a new robotics company — Ugobe — that is reportedly working on a new robotics toy. According to a recent article by Mark Calvey in the East Bay Business Times, Ugobe execs liken their new firm to Pixar, stating that Ugobe will create lifelike characters wth robotics, jut as Pixar does with CGI.
Ugobe has been selected as one of 70 new innovations to be unveiled at the DEMO 2006 conference, which is taking place February 6-8 at the Pointe Mountain Resort in Phoenix. As soon as we hear more about Ugobe’s new products we’ll post the information here. You can also find out more at the new Ugobe website.

Jeff,
Sounds interesting… no mention of price, though. It’s funny how the robotics world is slowly growing and offering up products that are (supposedly) not scary to kids – or adults! I hope we’re starting to see a slow acceptance of robotic devices in the home… similar to how the PC snuck in and became a standard household device. I know people who have 2 or 3 computers in their homes but not a single toaster or blender.
