You can program the existing RCX with a number of alternate programming languages and environments, including:

NQC (Not Quite C) http://bricxcc.sourceforge.net/nqc/

leJOS (Java) http://lejos.sourceforge.net/

Microsoft also has a number of resources for programming the NXT, including in C++/C#, J# and Visual Basic. Head here...

http://msdn.microsoft.com/coding4fun/lego/default.aspx

...for information on those items.

Hope that helps!

Is it possible to program the robots in basic, c++ or javascript? The standard drag 'n drop software looks a bit noobish. I would like to be able to make quite a complicated program (for a real robot that works on is own without control from humans) and I don't suppose it will be possible wit the standard software. The Lego website isn't very usefull, and perhaps you guys can help me,

So did i, (like pran) when i heared about it. i can´t believe it. We have to wait 4 very long month. With RCX i created so much subvi´s on labview and also additional Sensors, and so will i do it for the NXT-Unit

I agree, there should be some way of displaying text or images on the NXT screen, it's large enough after all. I wish that the movie that displayed the software on the personal computer showed what the code palates look like. However, these short informational movies are quite good and cool. I also wanted to give you all the URL to a movie I made that shows the RCX and IR tower insides, as well as the two communicating, that is at .

But in all I like being able to see the interface of the NXT and it's software.

Thanks,
Alex

Ah ! Thank you :)

At least now we know what the NXT menu looks like !

btw, did you see anything on the LabView-like software about controlling the NXT screen output in text or graphical format ? I'm rather curious about what the standard software let's one do with the screen.
