Our friends over at the LEGO online shop have announced that they’ll start accepting pre-orders for the new MINDSTORMS NXT on April 1st for the retail price of $249.99.
Additional online retailers are also participating in the pre-sell program, including ToysRUs, Fry’s, Amazon, Target, Wal-Mart and others. The official LEGO Mindstorms site will post updates on the pre-sell program over the coming weeks as well.

A longer version of the release appeared last week, here http://www.tmcnet.com/usubmit/2006/03/16/1465504.htm
Which includes Lego quotes:
“Since it was announced at Consumer Electronics Show in January,
consumer buzz and retailer demand for MINDSTORMS NXT has been
overwhelming,” said Joanna Gale, LEGO MINDSTORMS brand manager. “Because
we are thrilled that the community has expressed such early interest in
being part of the next generation of LEGO consumer robotics, our online
pre-sales program provides our most enthusiastic fans access to the
first units to roll off of the production line.”
Cool stuff… But I thought we were going to be personally invited to the program? Did anyone recevie anything yet from Lego?
Sadly this isn’t happening in the UK
I signed up and they sent me an email stating that they picked the 100 people. I wasn’t one of the hundred.

As far as the NXT goes, the official LEGO Mindstorms site has some basic info on the new NXT here:

I’d like info about FLL! I think it would be so much fun to create a team.
