While poking about the Internet for Easter accoutrements for an upcoming egg hunt, I chanced across this unusual little gadget from Violet Technologies, a small “smart object company” based in Paris. (Click here to visit the French Nabaztag forum post we grabbed the image from.)
Dubbed Nabaztag, this endearing little wi-fi Internet-enabled gadget can perform a variety of helpful tasks, such as behaving as an alarm clock, playing sounds when email is received, changing colors to indicate upcoming changes in the weather, and even playing remotely-delivered mp3 files. Users can also manipulate the ears on the gizmo, which can then cause a corresponding remote action or reaction on another user’s bunny. If Nabaztag’s white ears bore you, you can also pay a visit to the Nabaztag ear shop and buy more colorful, Pokemon-esque replacements.
It sounds like a light-hearted, lower-cost variant of the Philips/Wowwee SCOTY media hub concept, and we’re hoping we can see some of these available at retail stateside soon. For now our European friends can purchase them at locations throughout Europe for around $100 Euro or so. Visit the official Nabaztag site for more info. – [Jeff James]
