NXT vs RCX: What’s New?

The official LEGO Education site has a nice comparison chart showing — in detail — the differences between the exiting RCX Mindstorms system and the new NXT product.

The chart has been up for a while, but a quick lookthrough may be useful to those of you intrigued by the differences between the new and the old Mindstorms systems.

Check out the page in question at the official LEGO Education site here.  -  [Jeff James]

    Note:

That rechargable battery is for the EDUCATIONAL verison only.

The commercial version requires 6 AA batteries. I haven’t heard if the rechargable battery will be available as a separate purchase, or what the pricetag will be if it is.

I think it is inevitable that the commercial NXT does not support the rechargeable battery. I have two RCX bricks, one commercial, and one educational. As well as the battery fittings you need the AC-in port. And I doubt the commercial NXT has that. However, in the commercial lego catalog some of the NXT photos show the AC-in port. All we can do is hope for a ASC-in port built-in and wait.

I found it separately for 50$US. The only thing I wish was separate is the storage bin.

What are the dimensions of the NXT brick?
